Shaun Welak-Client Support Specialist

How long have you been with InCheck? I have been with InCheck  since last September.

Where are you from originally? Originally I am from Lomira. So, it is an hour north . It is a small town sort of by Fon Du Lac.

Where did you go to school? I went to college at UWM. I also went to MATC.  I am currently a student at University of Phoenix, graduating this November.

What does your job entail?  I recently moved to the Operations sides of the company and am in charge of a lot of client contact. I work with the clients to ensure that they have a pleasant experience with InCheck and solve their issues/problems ASAP.

What is your favorite part of your job? The people and like the fast pace of the environment. There is nothing that comes across your desk that’s the same thing. It is always something new that keeps you engaged and just keeps you going.

Which one of InCheck’s five core values do you feel most connected with [Positivity, Loyalty, Excellence, Innovation, Persistence]? Persistence. I feel like it kind of ties in with InCheck as well. Like, we are persistent, we are going to get the answer and just keep going until we get it. And just keep doing consistent work all across the board and improving.

What brought you to InCheck?  I am a full time student and I was getting stir-crazy at home. I needed something to do. I started part-time and moved to a full-time position which aligns closely with my schooling.

What is your favorite InCheck memory? The Christmas Party this past year was a blast!!

What was your first job? I was a waiter in high school for a small Ma & Pa type diner.

What are you reading right now? Currently I am reading anything. Just with school being online, that’s a lot of reading itself! I read a lot of magazines though, especially gossip magazines, haha.

Do you have any favorite movies or TV shows?  I love Shameless for a tv show. That’s one of my favorites. One of my favorite movies is Titanic. I just like the history part of it and all that. We watch Fresh off The Boat and also Empire.

Who are your favorite sports teams? I am a big Brewers fan. My family has had season tickets for as long as I can remember. So, we have gone to tons of Brewers games as a family. We do big tailgates sometimes. I am also a Packers fan just because it is the home team so have to cheer, haha.

Do you have any favorite quotes? “It is what it is.”

Who is someone you admire? I’d say my older brother. He is pretty high up at Children’s Hospital and it has been quite the struggle for him developing his family, raising his family, and watching him move all across the US while continuing school, and continuing to excel. It has been a really big influence in my life to continue education and work harder to see what the big end results can look like.

Where have you recently traveled to? A little over a year ago I got married in Las Vegas. We did it out in the middle of Red Rock Desert. So, we didn’t do it by any of the casinos or on the strip or anything like that. We went out into the middle of the desert and got married with 30 of our closest friends!

Where is your favorite place that you have traveled to? I love New York because of the hustle and bustle, but I probably would pick any of my Mexico vacations. I love the tropical, the beach, cocktails, and swimming!

Do you have any goals for the future? Graduate from school, for sure, is one. Graduate within the next year is a big goal of mine. Also, to obtain a career that is in my field of that sort. A job that really interests me is a big goal. Be happy with my job, my home life, and have a happy balance between everything is a big goal.

Have you had your 15 minutes of fame yet? No, but I have met some celebrities along the way! I just met Giannis from the Bucks at Maggiano’s over by Mayfair Mall. I met Paris Hilton when she came to Milwaukee. I also met Amy Poehler in New York walking down the sidewalk. I turned around, she turned around, and I just continued going.

What makes you interesting? I have a funny sense of humor. I don’t like to be redundant or boring. I just kind of like to go off the cuff with things. Make people laugh.

Do you collect anything? Yes, I worked for many many shoe stores so I have lots of shoes. Well over 100 pairs. I also collect vintage ashtrays from the 1950s.

What are some of your hobbies? In the summertime and spring I am big into the outdoors. I love gardening. Anything outdoors. Lots of water sports like skiing, and tubing. In fall and winter I like to cook and bake. I like to keep myself busy and off the ouch, haha. I like to try new recipes.

Do you have any pets? I have a kitten and his name is Truman. He’s an orange tabby with a lot of personality already! He is probably 4 or 5 months old now.

Final thoughts? I really enjoy working here. Meeting new people every week or everyday and learning new tasks is fun and interesting. I am curious to see what the future holds.
